Bike Walk Kentucky Announces New Board Members to Strengthen Advocacy for Pedestrian and Bicycle Infrastructure

Bike Walk Kentucky is pleased to announce the addition of three distinguished professionals to its Board of Directors: Ralph Davis, Christopher Butz, Michael Huston, and Jeff Moore. Each brings a wealth of experience and a shared passion for promoting safer, more accessible biking and walking infrastructure across the state.

A lifelong resident of Kentucky, Ralph Davis has dedicated his career to journalism and community advocacy. After earning his degree from Kentucky State University, Davis worked as a newspaper editor and later transitioned into television and digital media. He has a deep-rooted passion for promoting healthier lifestyles and increasing access to safe routes for pedestrians and cyclists. As an avid cyclist and member of the 500-Mile Club in the Kentucky Cycling Challenge, Davis believes that advocating for safer streets is crucial to improving the state’s health outcomes. He sees Bike Walk Kentucky as a key organization that educates residents and pushes for safer, more accessible infrastructure.

Chris Butz is a transportation planner with Louisville Metro Public Works and Assets, where he manages the city’s Bike Louisville program. His work focuses on improving bike infrastructure, cycling education, and expanding Louisville’s urban bike network. A Louisville native, Butz has extensive experience in transportation planning and land use, with a strong commitment to complete street design. He recognizes the power of advocacy organizations like Bike Walk Kentucky in influencing policy. He believes that the organization’s primary goal should be pushing for infrastructure that accommodates people of all ages and abilities, ultimately leading to more bike-friendly and pedestrian-friendly communities.

Michael Huston is a licensed architect, planner, and urban designer with over three decades of experience in both the public and private sectors. Having worked on more than 50 planning projects across the country—including mixed-use master plans and transit-oriented developments—Huston returned to Lexington, Kentucky in 2023 with a mission to improve mobility options in his home state. He first engaged with Bike Walk Kentucky during its 2024 state summit and saw it as the perfect avenue to advocate for increased investment in pedestrian and bike infrastructure. Huston believes that expanding mobility options will not only improve transportation but also stimulate economic development and tourism in Kentucky.

Jeff Moore is a civil engineer and transportation planner with nearly four decades of experience at the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, District 3 in Bowling Green. A certified planner, he has worked extensively on long-range transportation planning and public outreach initiatives. Moore believes Bike Walk Kentucky plays a crucial role in improving mobility options statewide. “Walking and biking are not just recreational activities; they are essential components of a well-rounded, accessible transportation network. By improving infrastructure and educating communities, we can create safer, healthier, and more connected cities and towns across the state,” he said.
