The BRIGHT Coalition, together with BikeWalkBG, was recently awarded a League of American Bicyclists Community Spark Grant.
The Make BG’s Biking BRIGHTer award will fund the purchase of bicycle safety gear, like bike lights, shoe reflectors, and more. These two organizations will host events to ensure the community’s more vulnerable road users get the gear they need to be visible, on bike or on foot. With the distribution of this bike safety gear, BikeWalkBG will be teaching bike safety through a kids bike rodeo, where kids are taught the rules of road and guided through a bike skills course. Dates and locations for the events are not yet set, but will be released on the respective organization’s social media sites in the coming weeks.
