2021 End of Year Report

Dear friends,

In 2020, Bike Walk Kentucky formed our inaugural board of directors.

Our mission: to educate and advocate for safe bicycling and walking across Kentucky.

Despite the pandemic, our new board forged ahead to construct this important new organization and voice for Kentucky and begin enacting the 2019 strategic plan. The vision formed in this plan was a direct result of the 2018 Kentucky Bike Walk Summit. We are indebted to the Kentucky Bicycle and Bikeway Commission for their support through all these endeavors. (KBBC also invited Bike Walk Kentucky to present at the October 2021 annual meeting.)

We are pleased to report that with the assistance of KBBC and many other partners across the state, Bike Walk Kentucky is now producing valuable results in our four focus areas:

  • Advocacy
  • Education
  • Health and Safety
  • Tourism and Economic Development

In less than two years, following are some of the ways Bike Walk Kentucky is making a difference. We look forward to continue growing and working with you in the coming years as we expand our efforts even more.

In 2022, these efforts will also include initiating relationships with Kentucky legislators and the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, forming key partnerships with other statewide advocacy organizations, such as Kentuckians for Better Transportation and the Kentucky Bicycle and Bikeway Commission, and engaging communities across the state to promote their own Complete Streets policy, as well as a Complete Streets policy for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.

For each of the following projects, we ask for your help in specific ways – through your interests, your knowledge and your professional and personal networks.

We also welcome you to contribute to this important work by donating today.
(Bike Walk Kentucky was awarded nonprofit status in 2021.)

Thank you for your support!
