Bike Walk Kentucky is Hiring
Bike Walk Kentucky is Hiring

Bike Walk Kentucky is growing, and we are excited to share a major milestone. We are hiring a program manager, the first paid position in the organization’s history, to help champion walking, biking, and active living across the Commonwealth.
If you’re a proud Kentuckian who lights up at the idea of healthier streets, connected communities, and more people moving under their own power, this role might be for you.
Why This Role Matters
Kentucky is full of vibrant small towns, historic main streets, and beautiful rural landscapes—but too many of our neighbors still lack safe, comfortable ways to walk, bike, and get active in their own communities.
That’s where this new Program Manager comes in…
In partnership with the Kentucky State Physical Activity & Nutrition Program (SPAN), this position will help:
- Tell Kentucky’s active living stories – Gathering data and success stories from previously funded programs, turning them into compelling narratives that highlight how walking and biking improve health, safety, and quality of life.
- Bring people together – Planning and coordinating 3–4 regional walk/bike workshops across Kentucky, including logistics, registration, promotion, food coordination, and on-site facilitation.
- Lift up local leaders – Helping communities understand and access SPAN’s services, including walk/bike master planning, feasibility studies, and design projects.
- Grow the movement – Creating engaging communications for Bike Walk Kentucky and SPAN, including social media, website updates, print materials, success stories, event promotions, and advocacy campaigns.
This is a part-time, contract role (about 10 hours per week, February–September 2026, potential to extend) with regional travel, ideal for someone ready to roll up their sleeves and help make Kentucky a healthier, more connected state.
Who We’re Looking For
We’re seeking someone who:
- Has experience in program coordination, public health, community engagement, or communications
- Enjoys planning events and working directly with communities
- Is a strong writer and storyteller who can turn data into compelling stories
- Understands (or is eager to learn about) bicycling and pedestrian planning and health promotion
- Can travel regionally within Kentucky to support workshops and community partners
If you see yourself in this description—and you care deeply about making it safer and easier for all Kentuckians to walk and bike—we want to hear from you.
