2021 Kentucky Cycling Challenge
2021 Kentucky Cycling Challenge
We would like to invite you to join us for the 2021 Kentucky Cycling Challenge. Now in its ninth year, the Kentucky Cycling Challenge promotes health and tourism in our communities by introducing riders to different areas of our state. Partnering with communities across the state that host cycling events, the Challenge encourages cyclists to complete the century or metric century routes at all or most of the rides to earn free Kentucky Cycling Challenge jerseys and shorts. Bike Walk Kentucky is now the lead organizer of this annual cycling event. Registration opens on February 15th and closes once 600 riders have registered.
The Kentucky Cycling Challenge represents a collaboration among six premier entities offering century rides in Kentucky.
April 17 Redbud Ride – The aptly-named Redbud Ride skirts the town of London and features picturesque spring scenery – including plenty of blooming redbud trees.
May 28-30 Horsey Hundred – Depart from Georgetown and spin past world-famous bourbon distilleries, horse farms, the state capitol and much more!
June 26 Licking Valley Century – Enjoy the shaded valleys and amazing vistas while riding the ridge tops of Northern Kentucky.
August 8 Rock The Crater – Depart from Middlesboro before journeying to the backroads through the beautiful and scenic hills and hollows of Eastern KY.
September 11 Limestone Cycling Tour – Event participants will enjoy the beauty and tranquility that surrounds historic Maysville, Mason County, and many other communities in the local area.
Each of these rides has a Century (100-mile) route. Riders who complete the 100-mile route of any four of these rides or complete any four of the metric-century routes will receive a free commemorative Kentucky Century Challenge cycling jersey and shorts/bibs. Those who finish at least 140 miles over in any of the four partner rides will receive a free Kentucky Century Challenge jersey. Anyone who completes a total of 100 miles in at least three of the four rides will have the opportunity to purchase a jersey.
Embark on five or all of these fantastic rides and you’ll feel a sense of accomplishment not many get to experience. And even better, you’ll see the Kentucky countryside at a pace that allows you to take it all in. Though each ride has its own entry fee, registration for the Challenge is free!
Start training for these amazing rides now and earn your Kentucky Century Challenge jersey.
